Frequently Asked Questions - Answered

Doggy Lounge Grooming Questions

What's the ideal amount of times for grooming your pup?

The answer to that really depends on the type of coat your pup has and how long it is. To figure out what works best for your four-legged friend, it's recommended we do a meet and greet where we will assess your pups coat. Let's make an appointment, give us a call.

Is it possible to groom my pup at home or do I need to go to a professional?

It can be done at home if you have a breed with a short coat. However, if your pup has a longer coat or if you are not confident about grooming them yourself, visit a professional.

At The Doggy Lounge we are trained and experienced to look after the fur of your dog.

We are also special in that we only do one-on-one, and one grooming appointment at a time. You won't find 3 pups on grooming tables at the same time and we don't use dryer boxes, in fact there are no cages onsite.

How do I select a good groomer?

It is necessary to research and ask for recommendations when looking for a groomer. Be sure to check our references, see our reviews on Google, and visit our social media accounts. Additionally, it is a good idea to visit the groomer's establishment and inquire about their knowledge and training. Look for a groomer who is patient, kind, and has a good reputation. We are available for a meet and greet, give us a call to set up an appointment.

What should I expect during my dog's grooming appointment?

During a grooming appointment, your dog will typically receive a bath, have their nails trimmed, and have their coat brushed and trimmed. It's a good idea to discuss your grooming preferences and any specific concerns with us beforehand.

How can I prepare my dog for grooming?

We are accustomed to handling dogs at all grooming experience levels and will ensure your pup is comfortable. Brushing and combing at home regularly will reduce your pups stress for their grooming by any professional.

Doggy Lounge Day School Questions

Are you curious about doggy daycare and how it works?

The Doggy Lounge provides a secure and supervised setting for pooches to play and mingle when their owners are away. What makes us special is that, in addition to our fun activities, we also provide structured activities such as obedience, leash work, tricks, and place work. We have both indoor and outdoor activities, so your pooch will have a blast!

Before your furry friend can start playing, we'll arrange a Meet and Greet. Here, we'll show you around our facility, get your paperwork in order, check that their vaccinations are up-to-date, and discuss any medical issues or allergies. The required vaccinations are Rabies, DAPP (or its equivalent), and Bordetella. After that, we'll do an assessment, which lasts 45 minutes to an hour, to see how they do in our day school setting. After this, they'll have three shorter visits before they can join us for full days, with no more than 7 days in between.

What should I look for in a doggy daycare facility?

When choosing a doggy daycare facility, it's important to look for a clean, safe, and well-run facility with trained and knowledgeable staff. You should also look for a facility that has policies in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all the dogs in their care, such as requiring proof of vaccination and spay/neuter. It's also a good idea to visit the facility in person and observe how the staff interacts with the dogs. We welcome a meet and greet with you and your pup, call us today to set up a time

How much is The Doggy Lounge Daycare Service?

We maintain a limited group of no more than 10 furry friends at once, all of whom belong to the same pack. We are unable to accept any pups that are younger than 8 months or un-neutered males.

In terms of pricing, if you book for over 5 hours (a full day), it's $43, and any additional dog from the same household is $36.

For 4-5 hours (a half day), the cost is $36 per pup, with an extra $30 for any other dog from the same household. The cutoff time for drop off is 11am, and please note that half day pooches may not get the same amount of one-on-one attention as a full day. Our day school hours (during winter) are Monday-Friday from 7:30am-5:30pm.

Is doggy daycare a good option for my dog?

The Doggy Lounge can be a great option for pooches who are sociable and who love to be around other dogs. It can also be helpful for those canines who become anxious or destructive when left on their own for long periods of time. Nevertheless, not all dogs are acceptable for daycare, and it is essential to contemplate your pup's character and any specific requirements they may have before registering them in a daycare program. Not sure? Let's set up a time for a meet and greet.

Do you have first aid?

We have been awarded the Dog Safe Canine First Aid certification, enabling us to offer your pooch quick and effective help in the event of an emergency. With this qualification, you can have the confidence that we possess the knowledge and skills to take proper care of your dog in case of an injury or sickness, potentially saving its life. We are devoted to the health of your pet and being certified in Dog Safe Canine First Aid sets us apart as dependable and knowledgeable pet carers.

Is The Doggy Lounge Insured?

To ensure peace of mind, we as professional dog caregivers have invested in ProFur insurance. In the unlikely event of an incident or accident involving your pet while in our care, this insurance can provide coverage for dog bites or property damage. We take the welfare of your dog seriously and don't take any chances, but it is comforting to know we have ProFur insurance in case of an unforeseen situation.

Can I leave my dog at The Doggy Lounge overnight?

Absolutely, any pup enrolled in our day school program is eligible to board with us but we do require an overnight trial to make sure your dog will be content in our home. If you're considering leaving your furry friend for an overnight stay, they will attend day school during the weekdays and spend the evenings with us and our family pet. On the weekends, your dog will have the opportunity to go on walks and hikes with us. Punch card credits cannot be used for boarding. We charge a daily rate of $75 for each pup, and an additional pup from the same household is half the daily rate. We can only accept two doggies at a time. For stays over 10 days, the daily rate is $65. All pooches must have a trial night before they are allowed to stay with us. Boarding services are only available to dogs that attend our day school. Check-in is between 7:30 and 11 in the morning, and check-out must be before 8 in the evening.

We kindly ask that you bring your canine's food, medicines, and any other items that will make them feel at home, such as toys or blankets.

“Our pups are treated so well here. They always have a fun time at the daycare and come out of grooming looking like rockstars. Great picture updates all day so you can peek at the fun your dog is having on Facebook or Instagram.”
